Cover Reveal & Giveaway! STARTER WIFE

StarterWife 500x750 Ta-da! Isn’t it stunning? I’m very excited to present the cover for Starter Wife, a zany, snarky, sassy contemporary romance set in Las Vegas about second chances, featuring a diamond-in-the-rough beta hero I had a ball creating. (Motorcycle, tattoos, prize fighter… wears a tiara to his daughter’s tea party.) Can’t wait to hear what you think of the story. Don’t miss the .99 pre-order special—on release day it goes back up to full price 2.99. Pick up your copy here.  Starting over has never been so fabulous Linnea King has it all, fabulous social life, adorable children, and her successful husband’s income… until he serves her with divorce papers. Her perfect life crumbles in a storm of police reports, cranky bus drivers, and burned dinners. The single life feels as foreign as a trendy haircut. Just when Linnea fears she’ll lose everything, her new neighbor steps in to help. Not that she’s judging by appearances, but TJ Gates looks like trouble with a capital T. Tattoos, motorcycle, and sexy southern manners, TJ is the last person Linnea expects to be her hero. A demolitions expert who takes prizefighting gigs to pay the bills, TJ has pretty much screwed up everything that matters, and rebuilding his life after a violent past is harder than it looks. He thinks the polished, expensive-looking Linnea King needs the same thing he wants: a second chance. You can read Chapter One here SW giveaway To celebrate, I’m giving away 4 pearl & Tibetan silver charm booklover bracelets! TJ Gates & Linnea King from Starter Wife might seem like an unlikely match at first, think Hugh Jackman and Grace Kelly. To enter the drawing, you could tell me your favorite “opposites attract” or “odd couple” story. OR… Since the book is set in Las Vegas, I added all the crazy stuff I’ve seen, living in Vegas the past 10 years. You’ll have to read the book to find out what’s so outrageous about it, but meanwhile you could tell me the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen, and you’re entered into the drawing. OR… If you’re not feeling particularly inspired, I’d be glad to hear a hello from you, and that will do too, but I hope you’ll entertain me with your funny stories. Thanks for stopping by, and good luck! Winners will be announced on release day, Oct. 14, 2014.

UPDATE: Congrats to Sherry H., PrincessSerenity81, Alesha Ol, and KiPha. If you don’t see a message from me, then I’m trying to find you! Please send me a message through the contact form on this website so I can mail out your prize. I’d love to hear from you. Thanks!

This book sounds great! The weirdest thing I have seen is a man wearing a thick ski suit in the tropical Cook Islands when I was on holiday a few years ago. I’ve also seen a man on a horse at the local McD’s drive through. 🙂

  2. Reblogged this on doingsomereading and commented:
    How exciting!!!

  3. I’ve pre-ordered, thank you! That cover is SO. GORGEOUS. I can’t wait to read it – tattoos, motorcycle, and sexy southern manners are a killer combination for me!
I can’t think of a funny story of my own, but the funniest thing I’ve heard lately was from my sister-in-law. She was at a big department store one night, and she saw a whole family sitting happily in a display of outdoor furniture, eating a KFC dinner…wearing onesies. I wish she’d taken a sneaky photo!

    • Why thanks, Serena! I’m so flattered you stopped by… and even ordered the book. Aw. *sniff* I’m also a big fan of sloppy baby eating–it’s cute when you’re one year old, right?

  4. Hi Moriah,
Wow! I’ve read all your historical romance books and didn’t know you were working on a contemporary. Sounds great and I can’t wait to read it. I like the cover 🙂

  5. Mary Preston says:

Weird seems to be kind of normal around here. I’m kind of hoping that the Batman I saw was on his way to a party, but given that it was 2 in the afternoon, maybe not.

  6. Moriah, I am enjoying Starter Wife more than I enjoyed your historical romances! While I read I am highlighting parts that made me laugh or took my breath away so I can include it in my review. I have 10% left to read and I am trying to stretch it out to savor it, lol. I will most likely be done with it today. When I think of TJ I think of Hugh Jackman thanks to the reference in the book.

  7. Oh I can’t wait! The story sounds great, I’m totally pre ordering it!

  8. Franca Hyder says:

Can you tell me when you will be doing the sequel to Mary’s Christmas Knight. I have greatly enjoyed your books and have been patiently waiting to read the sequel!

  9. R.L. Maiden says:

Okay, not really weird, but kid stuff–while moving into our house, we let the kids play in the backyard. We told them the boundaries: the driveway, the (private) road, and the very long telephone pole that was lying on its side. Upon hearing NOTHING from the backyard, I immediately went to investigate. My five-year-old had her older and younger siblings rolling the pole to widen their boundaries. Literally. Her comment was: “You never said we couldn’t move the log.”
    Never underestimate a kindergartner.

Also–I was just wondering the same thing that Frances was, about the sequel to Mary’s Christmas Knight.

    • haha What little rascals! And we’ve got to give them credit, that’s some outside-the-box thinking. I bet you’re busy, trying to keep up! Thanks for visiting today, oh–and I’m still working on the Rougemont books. Wish I worked fasters, but thanks for hanging in there with me ❤ I'm eager to announce news of the next release.

  10. Does a clown driving a pink ‘yellow taxi’ count as strange? I’ve seen him enough times that I’m surprised when I see the car with a different driver. 🙂

  11. I, too, have read all your historical fiction and LOVED them. And like your other readers, I’m wondering when the sequel to Mary’s Christmas Knight will be coming out.

I loved the cover of your new book, and I pre ordered your book. Looking forward to the read.

As for unlikely pairs, I hate to use a classic but…. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett come to mind.

As for silly stories, I’ve got tons. I am the mother of four lively children after all. My younger three were born in three years time. So I had my four year old boy, my 2 and 1/2 year old boy and my one and 1/2 year old girl all stripped down to the under clothing because I had some extra chocolate pudding that I had made for a class project for my older daughter. There was actually quite a bit left in the bowl as I placed it on their table in our backyard for them to dive into and make a mess that would be easy enough for me to hose off. I knew that my middle boy would take delight in “painting” his manly chest and rounded tummy with the gooey mess. So I wasn’t surprised to see him also painting his younger sister. What did surprise me as I was standing in the kitchen fixing dinner was our golden lab puppy, Lucky, who at the time was around 50 pounds had gotten out of his pen and was chasing them around trying to “clean up” their mess. The squeals of laughter and horror were mixed with mine as I tried to separate out the kids from the mess all while trying to keep myself clean. What adds to the humor was the delight that my younger two had in playing with Lucky and giving him access to the pudding while sharing with him and the horror that my older “Monk” boy had in being close to Lucky. It is never a dull moment at my house!

    • Excellent! Lizzie and Mr. Darcy are the quintessential odd couple. Thanks for ordering Starter Wife, Kim ❤ I really hope you like it. The Rougemont books are coming ASAP, thanks for asking about my favorite characters! And, oh my goodness, you sure have your hands full! I sure hope you're writing down these crazy stories.

  12. My hubby and I are an odd couple as I dated his best friend, while he was my friend. He never told me how he felt, while the guy I was dating knew all the while and “plotted” to keep us apart. FF and we connect-don’t ask-and we end up married, totally pi—– off the 1st person when he finds out. Too bad, so sad. My whole life is 10 novels at least!!

  14. Terrie Lynn says:

I am going to read “Starter Wife” this evening. I am looking forward to getting it started. I am wondering though when I could possibly look for the next part of Mary and Wesley’s story. I so do love their story. I have reread it once so far and plan to include it in my holiday reading list.

    • Thanks for reading Starter Wife, Terrie. I really hope you like it! Mary and Wes are probably my favorite couple. I can’t wait to finish their book. It’s in the works!

  15. Jenny Canty says:

Posted on Pinterest. TJ is definitely one sexy man! 🙂
